Biography of Instructors

Andrea Leplae, BEd, HBSc, FIS, FFY, FP, CPR

Andrea’s yoga journey began 20 years ago in a Scarborough Martial Arts Studio in 1993, when an Ashtanga Yogi ‘dropped in’ for a few sessions. Since then, Andrea has studied with Louise Solomon (Australia), Rachel Holmes (FFY, UK), Kathy Humpries (YYM, Canada) and Ashram-trained Madira Gregurek (Classical Hatha, UK), who continues to run Blossom Studio in Dundee, Scotland.

Andrea closely follows the works and teaching of Kino MacGregor and David Swenson (USA). Andrea has come to enjoy a Yogic lifestyle including daily practice, 10 years in the Ashtanga Primary Series, vegetarianism and random acts of kindness.

Andrea holds certification in Group Fitness, Yoga and Pilates and is on the National Register of Exercise Professionals (Canada and UK). This retreat will be the 4th Andrea has organized and is the first time at Sugar Ridge, which is a dedicated Yoga Retreat Centre. Andrea has been teaching Yoga for 8 years and delivers sessions in Niagara-on-the-Lake and in the UK. 

Lisa Fortner, 500-hr Yoga Teacher, Comprehensive Yoga Therapist

Lisa Fortner discovered yoga in college when free classes were offered to students to help them deal with the pressures of college. After obtaining her Kids Yoga certification through Young Yoga Masters, she went on to complete her 200-hour Yoga Teacher certification, Pre-natal certification and Restorative Yoga certification through Balanced Life Yoga.

After seeing the positive effects yoga can have on an individual, she decided to pursue her joint 500-hour Yoga Teacher and Comprehensive Yoga Therapist certification through Welkin YogaLife Institute. She currently teaches classes in the Durham Region.
